This Mexican restaurant inside Maple Hotel was born from love and nostalgia. It all started with Macaria, a Mexican woman who raised Inigo since he was a child. Even though Macaria has now passed away, her flavors and memories remain vivid, inspiring the creation of this restaurant.
We had the pleasure of collaborating with Mood Space Decor on the interior graphic design. We drew inspiration from Frida Kahlo, the legendary Mexican artist whose spirit and story continue to captivate the world. Her portrait now graces the restaurant as a tribute and celebration of this remarkable woman’s spirit.
Once the final design was complete, we faced one of our biggest challenges: testing the wall surface. The restaurant walls are made of semi-gloss, semi-matte tiles, which are notoriously tricky to paint on. We ran multiple tests to find the best way to ensure the paint would last — resisting moisture, standing up to daily use, and preserving every detail and color. From surface preparation, protective coating, to patiently waiting for each layer to dry before the next — every single step was crucial and couldn’t be skipped.
Even though it was tough work, we enjoyed every moment. We loved the laughter shared within our team while painting, and the conversations with people around us. We’re truly happy to have been part of this project and to have met everyone — whether by chance or intention. Thank you for becoming part of these good memories with us.
